I think the thing that inspires me most about Barack Obama is that he really is going to be the President of the United States. You know, he's not going to be the president of the top 10%, or the president of the most powerful corporations, or the president of the most powerful lobbyists. He's going to be our president. He's going to speak for us.

Obama said he would pull troops out of Iraq and send them to Afghanistan. He also said he would send troops into Pakistan. How is he any different than the other candidates who all dance to the tune of the military industrial complex?
Why, other than a gift for oratory and mucho charisma are people so willing to assume Obama is going to change anything in any substantial way.
Has he said anything about bringing presidential power back in line with the intent of the constitution, an equal sharing with the other branches?
Has he said anything about undoing the damage done to our constitution by the patriot act the military commissions act?
He has already indicated that he will vote for the violent radicalization and homegrown terrorist prevention act, which may be the final nail in our constitutions coffin.
I watched this video last night at BNF. It's terrific.
The discussion about it was interesting in that it focused on our reenergized young vote in this country. I think we are mistakenly attributing Sen. Obama's success to our enthusiastic twenty-somethings, when what I think is actually going on is that Obama has succeeded at marrying together those of us older/middle-aged people who came out of the immense disappointment of our 60s politics, with the assassinations of so many of our heroes, to our young adult people who are coming out of our post-60s politics characterized by silence and impotence.
As a white female in her 50s, I can say that more of my friends are Obama-supporters than are Clinton-supporters, despite what the Clinton campaign would like for us to believe. My friends, business contacts, and customers are overwhelmingly pro-Obama, and ALL of us are absolutely jazzed by having a way to connect so meaningfully with our spirited twenty-something neighbors and friends.
And just to dissuade any responses that might want to bring up the Reagan years as being good years, I will preemptively write that they were not good years for progressives such as myself. They were good years for corporate interests; for the merging of religion and politics in America; for the stoking of the embers in the ME, resulting in the terrible events of Sept. 11; and for the beginnings of our military being used to train foreign military forces to terrorize and torture citizens back in their home countries.

At the beginning of this campaign season a large majority of voters were looking forward to electing Clinton. Then Obama stepped in and started the dirty campaigning that has created the DIVISION he so hypocritically decries. Obama played "the race card" so he could win in South Carolina. He was caught red-handed playing that race card-but the media blamed it on Clinton-even though they all knew they were pushing the Big Lie.
